CARWEBB Dealer Code of Conduct & Standards
CarWebb partners with reputable UK motor traders who are committed to honesty, fair dealing, and consumer transparency. All dealers advertising stock on CarWebb must comply with our mandatory standards.
1. Transparent On-The-Road (OTR) Pricing
- Zero Hidden Admin Fees: The advertised price on CarWebb must be the full cash price payable by the buyer. Compulsory administration fees, documentation charges, or preparation fees added at point of sale are strictly prohibited.
- DMCC Act 2024 & CAP Code Compliance: All vehicle advertising must comply with the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and the UK Advertising Codes (CAP Code). Headline prices must clearly state whether VAT is inclusive or qualifying.
2. Vehicle Roadworthiness & Description Accuracy
- Statutory Consumer Rights: Dealers are legally bound by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Every vehicle sold must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and match its advertisement description.
- Accurate Mileage & History: Dealers must verify odometer readings against National Mileage Register (NMR) records and disclose any known insurance total loss categories (Cat S/N) prominently in the listing.
- Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI): Vehicles must undergo a documented mechanical and safety inspection before customer handover. Minimum remaining MOT of 6 months is strongly recommended.
3. Verified Dealer Badging Criteria
To display the Verified Dealer badge on CarWebb, dealers must undergo Phase 1 credentials verification:
- Active UK Companies House commercial registration.
- Physical, commercial forecourt or showroom trading address verified in the UK.
- Motor trade commercial identity, insurance, and regulatory compliance checked.
Important Notice: The Verified Dealer badge confirms verified business identity and trade premises. It does not constitute a mechanical warranty, vehicle condition guarantee, or financial solvency warranty by CarWebb. Consumers retain their full statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 directly against the selling dealer.
4. Professional Customer Handling
- Customer enquiries must be handled professionally and promptly during standard business trading hours.
- Dealers must provide honest, transparent vehicle descriptions and clear viewing arrangements for all prospective buyers.
5. Compliance Monitoring & Delisting
CarWebb actively monitors dealer compliance through mystery shopping, buyer feedback, and audit scans. Dealers who breach these standards are subject to immediate inventory suspension, badge revocation, and permanent removal from the marketplace.
